Biodegradable Plastic Mulch Film

Biodegradable Plastic Mulch Film

Biodegradable plastic mulch film is an environmentally friendly agricultural plastic. It possesses the same functions as conventional plastic mulch film, such as regulating temperature, maintaining moisture, suppressing weeds, and controlling pests and diseases. Furthermore, it can naturally decompose into water and carbon dioxide, thus avoiding the hassle of recycling and preventing soil pollution.

Description
Technical Parameters

Biodegradable plastic mulch film is made from materials such as PBAT, PLA, and PHA, and features UV protection. It's compliant with EN13432 European biodegradable and compostable standards. It completely decomposes into carbon dioxide and water through the action of microorganisms and ultraviolet light.

After the crop growing season, it can be either incorporated into the soil or left on the surface to naturally decompose, eliminating plastic waste and the costs associated with recycling.

Preparing Your Garden Beds with Biodegradable Plastic Mulch Film: A Step-by-Step Guide

To ensure the best possible results, begin with garden beds that are smooth and level across the top. If you're planning on subsurface irrigation, now's the time to get it installed beneath where the film will lay.

1.Unroll and Anchor: Gently unroll your mulch film over the prepared bed. To keep it from shifting, temporarily weigh down each corner with something substantial, like a sandbag or a smooth, heavy rock.

2.Choose Your Side: For ease of work, right-handed gardeners might find it more comfortable to start on the right side of the bed, while lefties may prefer the left. You'll be moving backward as you secure the film.

3.Secure the Edges: Get down on the ground with a hand hoe. Hold the film firmly against the soil, allowing a few inches to extend beyond the edge of the bed. Now, carefully scrape soil up and over this excess edge, burying it to create a seal.

4.Repeat and Tighten: Once one side is fully secured, move to the opposite side and repeat the process. As you work, pull the film taut, but avoid over-tightening. The sun will naturally cause it to tighten further over the next few days.

5.Finish the Ends: Address the ends of your bed in the same manner. Remember to leave space for any irrigation lines to protrude for connections.

6.The Importance of Sealing: This scraping technique isn't just for neatness; it's crucial for preventing wind from getting underneath the film and dislodging it.

7.Mulch Your Pathways: Finally, complete your garden by covering all pathways with a generous layer of mulch – be it leaves, wood chips, or another organic material. The goal is to leave no bare soil exposed.
